Service of Process

LFT Fiber highly values cooperation with law enforcement agencies and responds to all valid, properly served subpoenas, warrants and court orders, subject to payment of costs.

Service of Criminal Subpoenas Issued Pursuant to State Law

LFT Fiber accepts subpoenas by personal service at its main office located at 700 St. John Street, Ste. 300, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501. Personal service is not accepted at any LFT or LFT Fiber Customer Service locations. LFT Fiber also accepts service of subpoenas by United States mail, whether certified mail, return receipt requested, or first class mail. Service of subpoenas by United States mail should be mailed to LFT Fiber, Attn: CALEA Officer, 700 St. John Street, Ste. 300, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501. Subpoenas served by first class mail should include a request that the enclosed return form be signed by the addressee and returned to the issuing authority. Louisiana authorities issuing criminal subpoenas are directed to Article 735 of the Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure, governing service of criminal subpoenas.

Service of Criminal Subpoenas Issued Pursuant to Federal Law

LFT accepts service of subpoenas issued by a federal court or officer by personal service only. Again, service is accepted at 700 St. John Street, Ste. 300, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501, but not at any other LFT or LFT Fiber Customer Service locations. Federal authorities issuing criminal subpoenas are directed to Rule 17 of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, which governs the service of criminal subpoenas under federal law.

Emergency Requests

Pursuant to 18 USC 2702 (b) and (c) , LFT Fiber will voluntarily disclose certain customer communications or records on an emergency basis, only when a law enforcement officer provides sufficient information, through completion and submission of a CALEA - LFT Fiber Exigent Form that reasonably indicates that an emergency exists involving danger of death or serious physical injury to any person which requires disclosure without delay of communications or information relating to the emergency.
