LFT Fiber Hosts Successful “Powered By Connectivity” Summit at Vermilionville

LFT Fiber hosted its 2nd Annual “Powered By Connectivity Summit” at Vermilionville on Thursday, March 19th, bringing together regional leaders, industry experts, and community stakeholders for a day of meaningful dialogue on how high-speed connectivity is shaping Acadiana’s future.

University of Louisiana at Lafayette President Dr. Ramesh Kolluru, Lafayette Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet, LFT Fiber Director Michael D. Soileau

The summit featured conversations across multiple sectors, all centered on how fiber-powered infrastructure is enabling innovation, strengthening public services, preserving culture, and enhancing quality of life throughout the region. Summit speakers and attendees highlighted the importance of pairing technological advancement with human-centered leadership.

“Connectivity is about creating opportunity, advancing innovation, and empowering people,” said Michael D. Soileau, Director of LFT Fiber. “One of our aims at this summit is to gather subject matter experts to engage in meaningful collaboration and implement actionable changes to benefit our community.”

Lafayette Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet emphasized the collaborative momentum driving the region forward.

“There is such a positive energy in this community right now,” Boulet said. “It’s not one organization or one effort—it’s people coming together, building on progress, and stepping into this moment together. It truly is a special time for Lafayette.”

Throughout the summit, speakers reinforced that while technology continues to evolve rapidly, its true value lies in how it supports people and communities. During a public safety panel, Lafayette Parish 911 Executive Director Craig Stansbury underscored the impact of connected systems on emergency response.

“When we talk about connectivity today, we’re not just talking about faster networks or smarter devices—we’re talking about the ability to move from information to action…in seconds,” Stansbury said.

With strong attendance and positive feedback, the “Powered By Connectivity Summit” continues to establish itself as a key forum for exploring how technology and community intersect.
