LFT Fiber Brings Draw Alive to Life at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana

‍

A child draws a fish on a piece of paper. A few moments later, that same fish is swimming across a digital underwater world. That’s the idea behind Draw Alive™, a new interactive exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana that brings art, imagination and technology together in a way kids can experience for themselves. LFT Fiber and S1 Technology helped present and support the exhibit, and Scout Real Estate Co. made it all possible by building the walls around it. The exhibit opened at the museum in September 2026.

Why LFT Fiber wanted to be part of it

LFT Fiber is community-owned, and that shapes how we think about our role in Acadiana.

Our day-to-day work is building, maintaining and supporting the fiber network that connects local homes and businesses. We also look for opportunities to put our resources behind projects that give something back to the people who live here.

Draw Alive gave us a chance to help create something Acadiana families can use, enjoy and learn from for years to come.

“LFT Fiber was built on the idea that local infrastructure should create opportunities for the people who live here. Draw Alive gives Acadiana’s kids a chance to see technology as something they can create with, learn from and make their own.”

Local partners brought the idea together

Draw Alive came together through the work of several Acadiana organizations.

LFT Fiber and S1 Technology helped present and support the exhibit. Scout Real Estate Co. worked with the Children’s Museum of Acadiana to help bring the physical exhibit space to life. The CMA team built the experience into the museum’s Learning by Doing approach, which has guided its work with Acadiana children and families for 30 years.

The result is a place where kids can sit down with a box of crayons, make something of their own and see it become part of a digital world a few moments later.

How Draw Alive works

The experience starts with crayons, paper and an idea.

Kids choose a character, color and personalize it, then scan their drawing. Within moments, their creation appears on the large screen and becomes part of the scene alongside drawings made by other children.

It’s easy to understand when you see it happen: color it, scan it, watch it come alive.

Draw Alive begins with something simple: a drawing, a little imagination and a few crayons.

Along the way, kids get an introduction to digital tools, cause and effect, design, storytelling and creative problem-solving. They make something with their own hands, then see technology respond right in front of them.

Now open at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana

Draw Alive officially opened in September 2026 and is now part of the everyday visitor experience at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana in downtown Lafayette.

LFT Fiber joined CMA, S1 Technology, Scout Real Estate Co., local families and community partners to celebrate the opening. Once the kids got inside, it didn’t take long for the crayons and scanners to get busy.

Draw Alive can also support field trips, Camp STEAMology and future STEAM and digital-learning programming at the museum.

The instructions are pretty simple.

Pick a drawing. Grab a crayon. Scan it. Then start looking for your creation on the big screen.

If you have kids, go let them try it for themselves.
